When I was younger, I could list off the team that had won the Stanley Cup for every year starting in the early 70’s when I was a wee lad. I can’t do that anymore without thinking awful hard.
Maybe it was easier in the old days because there were a handful of teams that won several cups in a row. The Flyers and Hab’s in the 70’s, the Isles and the Oil in the 80’s. The Pens, Devils, Red Wings and Avalanche then won multiple cups as well over the 90’s and beyond but that’s where things got a bit fragmented. There’s been lots of one-timer winners since then. Not sure whether I like that or not.
Who will win this year’s short season cup? I’m thinking the Rangers and LA look pretty good right now.
