I went to a field hockey game last week in which my daughter was playing for her high school team. It must have been damn near zero on an early October afternoon which made it a bit hard to watch. Second, and equally painful was watching those poor girls have to play with sticks that are about a foot too short, with a blade that was invented to maximize player frustration. Sprinkle in a bumpy field (and did I mention the temperature) and I was almost in tears by the time it was over.
Alas, she is having fun playing and as the old saying goes, that it all that matters.
